Growing as a therapist is its own kind of journey
Training to be a counsellor is demanding, rewarding, and sometimes overwhelming — often all at once. I offer warm, practical support for trainees who want to develop their skills, deepen their self-awareness, and build real confidence in the room.
Get in touchWhat I offer trainees
I work with counsellors at all stages of training — from those just starting their placement hours to those approaching qualification. My support is grounded, honest, and tailored to where you actually are, not where you think you should be.
Personal therapy
Many training courses require trainees to be in their own therapy. I offer a warm, confidential space for your own personal work — separate from your training, and entirely focused on you.
This is your space, not a supervision session.
Skills development
Practical, reflective sessions to help you develop your therapeutic skills — working with difficult emotions, managing endings, holding the frame, and finding your own voice as a therapist.
Grounded in real practice, not just theory.
Placement support
Starting a placement can feel daunting. I offer support to help you navigate the realities of working with clients for the first time — including the bits your training might not have prepared you for.
Honest, practical, and non-judgemental.
Trainee supervision
Qualified supervisors are required for placement hours. I offer individual supervision for trainees, providing a reflective space to explore your client work and your development as a practitioner.
See the Supervision page for more detail.
Why work with me?
I remember what it felt like to be a trainee — the self-doubt, the imposter syndrome, the moments of genuine connection that made it all worthwhile. I bring that lived experience to my work with trainees. I won't pretend training is easy, but I will help you find your footing.
Trauma-informed
I understand how our own histories show up in the therapy room.
Integrative approach
Drawing on multiple models to meet you where you are.
Honest feedback
Warm but real — I'll help you grow, not just feel good.
No jargon
Plain language, genuine connection, practical support.
Practical details
Who is this for?
Counsellors in training at any level — whether you're just starting out or approaching your final placement year.
Do sessions count towards placement hours?
Personal therapy sessions count towards your required personal therapy hours. Supervision sessions count towards your supervised practice hours. Please check your course requirements.
How often would we meet?
This depends on what you need. Personal therapy is typically weekly or fortnightly. Supervision frequency is usually set by your course requirements.
Do you work online?
Yes — all sessions are available online via a secure video platform, so I can support trainees across the UK.
Let's talk about where you are
If you're not sure what kind of support you need, that's completely fine. Get in touch and we can have a conversation about what might be most useful.
