About me

Hello — I'm glad you're here

I'm a trauma-informed counsellor and EMDR therapist, and the person behind Odd Socks Therapy. I work with adults who are carrying difficult experiences, and with counsellors who are growing into their practice. I believe therapy works best when it feels genuinely human — and that starts with being honest about who I am.

How I got here

I came to counselling through my own experience of therapy — the kind that changed things. I know what it's like to sit in that chair, to feel the weight of something you can't quite name, and to slowly find language for it. That experience shapes everything about how I work.

I trained as an integrative counsellor and later specialised in EMDR, drawn to its capacity to help people process trauma without having to relive it in detail. I've worked in a range of settings — including with young people, in community mental health, and in private practice — and I bring all of that into the room.

The name Odd Socks Therapy came from a simple truth: none of us match perfectly, and that's exactly as it should be. I wanted a name that felt warm, a little playful, and honest — because that's what I try to bring to my work.

How I work

My approach is integrative and trauma-informed. That means I draw on different therapeutic models — including person-centred, psychodynamic, and somatic approaches — depending on what feels most useful for you. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, because people aren't one-size-fits-all.

The relationship comes first

Research consistently shows that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in whether therapy helps. I take that seriously.

Trauma-informed throughout

Whether or not trauma is the presenting issue, I work in a way that is always attentive to how our histories shape our present.

No jargon, no performance

I try to be a real person in the room — warm, honest, and direct. Therapy doesn't have to feel clinical to be effective.

Paced by you

You set the pace. I'll never push you somewhere you're not ready to go — but I will gently walk alongside you.

Training & qualifications

I'm committed to ongoing professional development and hold the following qualifications and memberships:

  • Diploma in Integrative Counselling
  • EMDR trained (EMDR Association UK accredited training)
  • Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
  • Enhanced DBS checked
  • Regular clinical supervision
  • Fully insured for private practice

Outside the therapy room

When I'm not working, you'll usually find me walking somewhere with a good view, reading something that makes me think, or failing to keep houseplants alive. I believe in the importance of rest, play, and the kind of conversations that go on a bit too long — and I try to bring that same appreciation for the full texture of life into my work.
